If the season ended today, the New York Giants would have the top overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. That’s the reward for what has been an absolute struggle of a season for the G-Men.

We’ll have to see if that position holds. But, since the Giants already have their quarterback of the future in Jaxson Dart, ESPN’s Field Yates has the Giants trading down with New York’s other team in order to acquire additional draft capital in his latest mock draft.

Giants trade back and land Jordyn Tyson in latest mock draft from ESPN

“The Giants drafted their quarterback of the future in Jaxson Dart and a building-block pass rusher in Abdul Carter this year, making this a scenario where they would likely field offers to move down if they do end up with the No. 1 pick,” Yates wrote. “In this mock draft trade, the Jets would send both of their first-round picks (Nos. 7 and 18) and a Day 2 pick to the Giants for the top selection.”

After trading down in the mock, the Giants use the No. 7 overall selection on a weapon for Dart: Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson.

Tyson, who started his college career at Colorado before transferring to Arizona State, was named First-Team All-Big 12 in both 2024 and 2025.

“Giants struggled to piece things together on offense without Malik Nabers (torn ACL) for much of this season, and top fill-in receiver Wan'Dale Robinson will be a free agent in March,” Yates wrote. “Tyson brings a package of size, versatility and explosiveness that would pair great next to Nabers. When the ball is in Tyson's hands, he is tenacious and flexes excellent acceleration.”

Surrounding a young quarterback with as many weapons as possible to make his job easier is a sound strategy, and perhaps that’s the route that New York will take. They already have a young stud running back in Cam Skattebo and one young star receiver in Nabers. Adding to that group high in the draft could position to New York to have one of the best young cores of skill players in the entire league.

With the other first-round pick acquired from the Jets, Yates has the Giants strengthening the secondary by selecting Clemson cornerback Avieon Terrell.

Wide receiver and cornerback are both areas of need for New York, so being able to address them both in the first round would be nice. If the Giants do actually end up with the top pick in the draft, it will be interesting to see if they actually consider trading back to gain additional assets.
