The New York Giants and Tennessee Titans might be able to add Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski to their list of head coach candidates this offseason.
That's because, according to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, the Browns are thinking about parting ways with Stefanski after the season is over.
Russini notes that the Browns are likely to hold on to executive vice president and general manager Andrew Berry because of his most recent draft, which was a successful one for Cleveland.
"The Cleveland Browns have done some background work to gather information on potential head-coaching options, and are leaning toward moving on from two-time Coach of the Year Kevin Stefanski," she reported. "With the success of EVP and general manager Andrew Berry’s most recent draft, he’s likely to stay, but those discussions are ongoing heading into Cleveland’s final game at the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. The Browns are 4-12 after finishing 3-14 in 2024."
Stefanski has taken the Browns to the playoffs twice in his six years at the helm, but Cleveland hasn't been to the postseason since 2023 and has only made the playoffs once in the last five seasons.
A two-time Coach of the Year, Stefanski is still a very good coach, but the clock may have simply run out on his time in Cleveland.
That's going to be music to the ears of the Giants and Titans, both of whom are in the market for a new head coach after firing Brian Daboll and Brian Callahan, respectively, during the 2025 campaign.
Stefanski would be a great fit for both teams.
The Giants and Titans need someone who is experienced and can help develop their young quarterbacks, Jaxson Dart and Cam Ward, something an offensive-minded coach like Stefanski would be perfect for.
If Stefanski does indeed become available, we would expect him to be near or at the top of the list of candidates for both teams, and any other team that has a job available in 2026.
