Giants' rookie RB Cam Skattebo does a $30,000 good deed for high school football team in Ohio image

Before Cam Skattebo made a name for himself with the New York Giants as an exciting rookie running back, he had already shown a different part of the football world his generous side.

A $30,000 good deed by Skattebo was recently documented by The Toledo Blade.

Skattebo's older brother, Leo, played at Bowling Green State University in northwest Ohio and now coaches not far outside of Toledo. He's the offensive coordinator at Elmwood High School.

This summer, Skattebo donated $30,000 worth of equipment to the Elmwood program.

"Cameron and I come from a very loving home that stressed respect, discipline and the principles of being good humans," Leo told the Blade. "My mom will call and ask if the team needs anything. She's 2,000 miles away and has never met these kids but she asks every week. My sister has made shirts for the kids completely free. My mom was the kind of woman who would go hungrey for a stranger to eat. My dad was the kind of man who, if his kids were going to play games at the pizza parlor, he would give money to our friends so they could play and not feel left out."

It sounds like the Skattebo parents, Leonard and Becky, raised their children well.

It is cool to see an instance like this documented.

Cam Skattebo surely didn't make this donation for attention. He did it for the love of his brother and for some up-and-coming football players who enjoy the same game he does.

But it's a cool reminder of the kindness and good in the world.

Skattebo's NFL career is just getting started. He looks like he could be a star, but nothing is guaranteed.

But anyone, like Skattebo, can control what they do away from the field. And he's got that part figured out.
