Jaxson Dart's time is coming.
The only question: How soon?
The New York Giants traded back into the first round to select Dart out of Ole Miss at No. 25 overall in April. He was the second QB off the board, behind just No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward, who will start in Week 1 for the Tennessee Titans.
Dart's timeline is less certain.

The Giants brought in two veteran quarterbacks this offseason. Russell Wilson will be the Week 1 starter, and Jameis Winston is in town, too.
On the bright side, they have the potential to teach Dart a lot about the NFL.
On the other side of things, Dart has to wait his turn in a way that he may not have had to otherwise.
ESPN's Seth Walder doesn't think the wait will be long, though. He predicts the Giants will have Dart starting by Week 5.
"There has been buzz around Dart's preseason, and I can't imagine the Giants are too excited to cling to the Wilson era longer than they have to with a first-round QB waiting in the wings," Walder writes. "Facing the Saints in Week 5 could be a nice soft landing for Dart to begin his NFL career."

The Saints are expected to be one of the worst teams in the NFL. They'll have Spencer Rattler starting at quarterback to open the season, but they could also soon turn to second-round rookie Tyler Shough.
It'd add some serious juice to a potentially unexciting showdown if it ended up being a clash of rookie QBs.
Regardless, it's notable that analysts think Dart could be starting that early. The Dart era for the Giants might be coming sooner than anyone expected.
