Jaxson Dart has the chance for a long, successful career as an NFL quarterback.

There are lots of reasons the New York Giants traded up to take Dart 25th overall at last month's draft. The former Ole Miss QB has great potential.

He's also entered into an awesome situation. He can learn from veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, who have seen all there is to see in the NFL.

When Dart is ready, the Giants' starting quarterback job will be his.

But there's one new development that has New York fans a bit concerned.

During this weekend's rookie minicamp, Dart showed off an odd habit before his throws. He literally flips the ball in his hands before letting it fly, at least on some throws captured on video from minicamp.

Some QBs have subtler variations of this, and there's a bit of conflict over whether that's actually a bad thing.

But this seems like a whole lot of superfluous football movement that could impact ball security and throw timing.

There's a chance Dart only has this habit in drills and it doesn't carry over into game action, which is a different issue.

It's likely something the Giants will eventually work to try and minimize.

It shouldn't put the damper on Dart's talent or potential. But it's something to keep an eye on.
