Giants reportedly targeting former Coach of the Year as their next head coach image

The New York Giants will see their 2025 season come to an end on Sunday, and what a disappointing season it has been. After a 2-4 start, and wins in two of Jaxson Dart's first three starts, it appeared that the Giants were in line to have an exciting season. However, they lost their next nine games and saw Dart go down with a concussion.

Brian Daboll was fired in the middle of the losing streak after a blown double-digit lead to the Chicago Bears, which led to Mike Kafka being named interim head coach. The Giants are 1-5 under Kafka, and it's clear the Giants will look elsewhere for a new head coach. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Giants have their eyes on Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski, should he become available.

"Stefanski might be the strongest retread candidate in the eyes of many," Fowler reports. "The Giants would be an ideal fit. And trades of any kind are never off the table in Cleveland, but it'd be tricky trying to trade a coach who's 7-26 over the past two years."

Stefanski is in one of the more interesting cases in the NFL. He's a two-time Coach of the Year winner with the Browns, but Cleveland is about to finish its second consecutive season in which they won five or fewer games. A change of scenery is probably for the best, both for Stefanski and the Browns. If he becomes available, pairing him with Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo could make sense.
