If there are any concerns whether the New York Giants will let Jaxson Dart cook under new interim head coach Mike Kafka, those should be alleviated pretty quickly when you see Kafka's stat line in the 2010 Outback Bowl.

Yep, that's a real sentence.

And yep, you really need to see these stats.

Kafka played his college football at Northwestern, where he was a really good quarterback.

And on New Year's Day in 2010, Kafka and his Wildcats faced off with SEC power Auburn in the Outback Bowl.

It was a messy, rainy day, but that didn't stop Northwestern from dialing up as many pass plays as pretty much any team ever has.

Kafka's final line:

  • 47 pass completions
  • 78 pass attempts
  • 542 passing yards
  • 4 passing touchdowns
  • 5 interceptions

Read those a few more times. Let it sink in.

The dude was 47-for-78.

He threw four TDs and still managed to throw more INTs.

He also ran 20 times for 34 yards (with sacks counting as negative runs in college).

Northwestern lost in a heartbreaker, 38-35, on an Auburn field goal in overtime.

Kafka has four receivers that day with at least eight catches:

  • Andrew Brewer 8-133-2
  • Drake Dunsmore 9-120-1
  • Sidney Stewart 10-97-1
  • Zeke Markshausen 12-84-0

Their fifth-leading receiver on the day, Jeremy Ebert, still had six catches for 64 yards.

Kafka has been a lot of places since that wild day. But something tells us it's probably a football game he'll never forget.
