The New York Giants are 2-11, and their fans have their eyes more fixated on the offseason than their Week 15 matchup with the Washington Commanders, and with good reason.

The Giants fired Brian Daboll after their Week 10 loss to the Chicago Bears, leading to Mike Kafka becoming the interim head coach. And while it's possible Kafka could still win the job, it looks far more likely that they will go in another direction and hire an outside candidate. That also means, though, that they have to hire the right  guy to get the Giants back on track. With all of the young talent they have in Jaxson Dart, Cam Skattebo, and Malik Nabers, finding the right candidate who can take advantage of this influx of talent is a must.

This is why many Giants fans may get nervous after Conor Orr of Sports Illustrated named Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo as a name to watch for the job.

"Patullo, 44, is in his first season as the offensive coordinator of the Eagles but has made prior appearances on this list before stepping into one of the most difficult jobs in the NFL," Orr writes. " Patullo’s strength is his ability to think big picture. Nick Sirianni has leaned heavily on the longtime NFL assistant for his ability to help build a staff and craft larger-scale decisions that can impact the team. From that standpoint, Patullo has been instrumental in helping the Eagles survive myriad coordinator and personnel changes over this run of unprecedented success in Philly. With the Giants’ job being open, it would be a surprise if a division rival did not bring him in for an interview."

Considering what we've seen from the Philadelphia Eagles' offense this season, this would be a bad hire. Entering Week 15, the Eagles rank 16th in EPA per play, one spot behind the Giants, per Next Gen Stats. Considering all the talent the Eagles have with Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown, and Devonta Smith behind a very good offensive line, the fact that they haven't scored more than 21 points since they beat the Giants in Week 8 speaks volumes. There are plenty of other quality candidates to be the next head coach of the Giants. Every Eagles fan in the world would be dancing in the streets if the Giants made the mistake of hiring Patullo.
