The New York Giants are turning the page to a new chapter, with the team set to hire John Harbaugh as their next head coach.

While the hire hasn't been made official yet, reports suggest it is getting done and Harbaugh will indeed be on the sideline for the Giants in 2026.

Throughout the process, it was reported that Harbaugh was doing his homework on the Giants and quarterback Jaxson Dart, who Harbaugh met with while he was interviewing for the job.

According to The Athletic's Ian O'Connor, Harbaugh came away "excited" with what he saw of Dart's tape.

And, to take it a step further, Harbaugh believes the Giants don't need a rebuild and can be a winning team in 2026.

"Harbaugh watched Dart on tape and came away excited about his future," O'Connor reported. "He had at least one longtime scout study the Giants’ roster and film to determine whether this 4-13 team could be fixed in short order, and he came away believing it could. Harbaugh told people that he didn’t believe a rebuild was necessary, and that with the returning playmakers (Malik Nabers, Cam Skattebo), he felt the Giants could be a winning team in 2026."

O'Connor noted that Harbaugh "already ranked the Giants atop his list of potential job openings" before being fired by the Ravens, with O'Connor adding Harbaugh "wanted that job and that quarterback."

One concern Harbaugh had in terms of the roster building was who would have the final say if there was a disagreement between himself and general manager Joe Schoen.

O'Connor says Harbaugh was assured by co-owner John Mara that he would be pleased with the team's "collaborative process," and Schoen's history of moving up to draft Dart, who Brian Daboll wanted, also helped put Harbaugh's fears to bed.

We would agree with Harbaugh that there are enough pieces in place in New York to turn this thing around quickly.

But the development of Dart is paramount and it was crucial the Giants hired someone who truly believed in the Ole Miss product.

Safe to say, Harbaugh does.
