Giants take important step in bid to hire John Harbaugh as next head coach image

The New York Giants are very interested in making former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh their next head coach.

And, on Wednesday, the team took an important step in that bid.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter and Jordan Raanan, the Giants are set to host Harbaugh for an in-person visit, which amounts to his first in-person meeting with teams interested in his services.

"Former Ravens head coach John Harbaugh is meeting today with the New York Giants in what is his first in-person visit to another team’s training facility," he reported on Wednesday.

While this is Harbaugh's first in-person interview with a suitor, it is not his first interview, as he already completed a virtual one with the Atlanta Falcons.

The Giants have been courting Harbaugh even before this interview.

The Athletic's Ian O'Connor has reported that John and Chris Mara and other Giants executives have already spoken with Harbaugh about the job.

Even former Giants Eli Manning and Brian Daboll have been in contact with Harbaugh to recommend he take the job in New York.

By all accounts, the feeling is mutual when it comes to Harbaugh's interest in the Giants, but the Falcons and Tennessee Titans are both considered threats.

If the Giants want Harbaugh badly, they shouldn't let him leave the building after the meeting on Wednesday.

It's important to note that the Giants have already satisfied The Rooney Rule, so they are in position to hire Harbaugh right away.
