The New York Giants and Washington Commanders could both be in the market for a wide receiver in 2026.
The Giants will get Malik Nabers back from a torn ACL, but New York could use a better No. 2 option. Darius Slayton is under contract through 2027, but he's better suited as a No. 3, and Wan'Dale Robinson will be a free agent.
In Washington, the Commanders are unlikely to bring Deebo Samuel back as he is set to be a free agent in 2026 and the cupboard is bare behind Terry McLaurin.
Bleacher Report's Moe Moton is taking a look ahead to the 2026 offseason and thinks there's a chance the Miami Dolphins could make Jaylen Waddle available after his name was mentioned in rumors ahead of the trade deadline.
Moton predicts that both the Giants and Commanders will have interest in a trade for Waddle if he's available. Moton projects Waddle will cost a first-round pick, along with a Day 3 selection.
Waddle could cost slightly more than A.J. Brown on the trade market because he's younger and will probably be more productive in the second half of the season as the Dolphins' No. 1 wideout without a clear complementary No. 2 behind him on the depth chart. Whereas Brown plays alongside DeVonta Smith, who's racked up 1,000-plus yards in multiple seasons.
If available, Waddle would generate interest from multiple receiver-needy teams, who would have no issue taking on the remainder of his contract that he just signed last offseason and giving up at least a first-rounder for him.
Ideal Landing Spot: Tennessee Titans
Other Potential Suitors: New York Giants and Washington Commanders
That would be a very rich price to pay, but Waddle would be a massive upgrade for both teams, as he could be a No. 1 on a lot of squads in this league.
Pairing him with McLaurin or Nabers would give the Commanders or Giants one of the best one-two punches at wide receiver in the NFL.
What makes Waddle more attractive is the fact that he's only going to be 27 when the season starts next year and his reasonable $84.7 million contract runs through 2028, so he amounts to a long-term solution.
With the Giants and Commanders both having young quarterbacks that need as much support as possible, it's conceivable to think the NFC East squads could consider pulling off a trade for Waddle, but only if the price is right.
