What is Cam Skattebo's injury?
Skattebo's injury is a dislocated ankle, fibula fracture, and a ruptured deltoid ligament, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Wednesday, Oct. 29.
He underwent testing at a local Philadelphia hospital, and it was determined that he needed surgery. Skattebo underwent successful surgery on Sunday, Oct. 26, hours after the injury.

Cam Skattebo underwent successful surgery on his dislocated ankle last night at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital Presbyterian campus. He has been discharged from the hospital and will begin rehab immediately.
The closest teammate to him was offensive lineman Greg Van Roten.
About the injury, he said, "I saw him on the ground with his leg trapped. When he pulled it out, you could see his foot was the wrong way. Obviously, that is not normal. I just wanted [Skattebo] to stay down, called the trainers out, get the cart. Put the [ankle] back basically. It's hard to see stuff like that."
Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart has developed a fast relationship with Skattebo. When the other half of the dynamic duo went down, Dart said, "Yeah, I was devastated. It's my boy, man. So seeing him go down and obviously reacting to what happened, that sucks. It's the worst part of this game."
Veteran wide receiver Darius Slayton also provided a comment, saying, "It's really hard to see, a young guy who was having a heck of a year. Somebody who is a unifying personality, an energetic personality. It's sad to see him go down."
How long is Cam Skattebo out?
After surgery, Skattebo faces a recovery timeline of four to six months, per Rapoport. This ends his rookie year after eight games and will keep him sidelined through at least February.
By the end of the six months, Skattebo should be able to participate in OTAs and minicamp.
A positive sign for Skattebo's spirits: Giants head coach Brian Daboll told reporters that the rookie was "wheeling around" the facilities just days after undergoing surgery, signaling the beginning of his road to recovery.
On Monday, Oct. 27, Skattebo took to social media to provide a status update.
Thank you everyone for the support!! Surgery went well. I just want to thank the city of Philly for taking the best care of me. Every moment I spent in the hospital with family and friends I felt loved and supported in every way❤️ thank you to the doctors, surgeons, and staff…

Skattebo's injury required that the rookie have surgery. Rapoport reported that the injury will end Skattebo's rookie season. Based on that timeline, the running back will turn his attention to getting back on the field for the 2026 season.
