We simply cannot get enough of the performance from the New York Giants and rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart in the Thursday night win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
Dart has officially arrived after we saw him dismantle the Eagles' defense. Making the win even better, Cam Skattebo got involved and was nothing short of a bulldozer against Philly's overmatched defense.
Giants fans are next-level hyped over Dart and Skattebo, and they most definitely should be. The future is bright thanks to the two rookies, and especially thanks to Dart, who is breathing life into a franchise that desperately needed it.
On the morning after Dart's statement game against Philly, here's a look at all of the impressive stats that were created from his sensational performance on Thursday night.
7 unbelievable Jaxson Dart stats
- Dart is the second rookie QB in the last 20 seasons to beat a defending Super Bowl champion in primetime. The other is Robert Griffin III vs. Giants in 2012 (NFL researcher Dante Koplowitz-Fleming).
- Dart is also the first QB in NFL history to defeat a defending Super Bowl champion in primetime within his first three career starts (NFL+).
- Since 1991, Dart is one of only two quarterbacks to lead their team to an opening-drive touchdown in each of their first three starts. The other is Patrick Mahomes (KXSC's Sam Reno).
- Since 2000, Dart is the second player to record both passing touchdown of 20-plus yards and a rushing touchdown of 20-plus yards in a first quarter. Tim Tebow accomplished that feat in 2010 against the Raiders (Koplowitz-Fleming).
- Dart's touchdown run saw him scramble 2.4 seconds after the snap. The average signal-caller scores on similar runs just 3.6% of the time (Next Gen Stats).
- Excluding regular-season finales, the Giants are the first team in NFL history to beat a defending Super Bowl champ by 17-plus points while starting a rookie QB (ESPN's Blake Warye).
- The win over the Eagles was the Giants' first Thursday night win since 2015 (ESPN New York).
Dart and the Giants will look to get a winning streak going when they travel to Denver to take on the Broncos in Week 7.
