Saints' Spencer Rattler breaks a New Orleans QB drought that had lasted since 1998 image

Spencer Rattler wasn't even born the last time the New Orleans Saints accomplished what he was able to on Sunday against the New York Giants.

The feat: Win a game with a quarterback who the Saints themselves drafted.

The CBS broadcast shared Sunday that the Saints hadn't put together such a victory since 1998.

Rattler, who was a fifth-round pick by New Orleans and was 0-10 in his career as a starter before Sunday, finally ended that drought.

He was sharp in a 26-14 win over the Giants.

Rattler finished 21-for-31 throwing the football for 225 yards. That included an 87-yard TD pass to Rashid Shaheed.

The athletic Rattler also ran six times for 21 yards.

He deserved this victory, as most of this season Rattler has been solid and just not gotten enough help around him.

He was once projected to be a No. 1 overall pick, but a couple rough college seasons followed the bumped Rattler down to being a project in the NFL rather than a sure thing.

The Saints have stuck by him so far this season despite the lack of wins, and that faith was rewarded Sunday with another good Rattler game, this one resulting in a win.

New Orleans will be hoping now that the drought in this drafted QB win stat doesn't extend another 27 years this time around.
