The New Orleans Saints are 2-9, and looking poised to select inside the top five of the 2026 NFL Draft. Kellen Moore, in his first year, is rebuilding the team, and a few of their moves so far this season have been emblematic of such a decision.
Rashid Shahaeed was dealt to the Seattle Seahawks at the trade deadline, and veteran Brandin Cooks was released by the club some weeks later, set to join a new team for the remainder of the 2025 season.
The Saints' wide receiver depth has been impacted by those decisions. As Week 13 approaches, the Saints are bringing in a former receiver with experience as a Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, and Denver Broncos, as reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Samori Toure, a wide receiver previously with The Packers, Bears, and Broncos, has been signed by The Saints.
Schefter reports the Saints are signing Samori Toure to their practice squad. New Orleans is adjusting its roster, facing a significant shortage of wide receiver talent as the season nears its end.
During his two-year tenure with The Packers in 2022 and 2023, Toure participated in 22 contests, securing 13 receptions from 28 targets, accumulating 160 receiving yards and scoring one touchdown.
Prior to his arrival with The Saints this season, Toure spent time with The Bears until late August, after which he moved on to the Broncos.
More: Chris Olave's contract extension update is great news for Saints fans
At the close of October, Denver let Toure go, allowing the journeyman practice squad receiver the opportunity to sign with a different club. He ultimately landed with The Saints, with the prospect of making his NFL debut since 2023 available due to the thin wide receiver corps.
Chris Olave is the starter, while Devaugn Vele, Mason Tipton, and Kevin Austin Jr. Make up the rest of the wide receiver room.
While Toure may not be on the active roster for Week 13, his inclusion offers the Saints additional security should an injury sideline a receiver or if Moore opts to have a fifth receiver available on game days.
