Saints cut ties with Blake Grupe after signing another kicker to practice squad image

The New Orleans Saints have parted ways with kicker Blake Grupe and have already found his replacement.

According to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, the Saints are signing kicker Cade York to the practice squad.

In addition, the team is releasing Grupe, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

The writing was on the wall that Grupe's days in New Orleans were numbered. The 27-year-old has struggled mightily in 2024, missing a whopping eight field goals.

York was one of two kickers the Saints brought in for a workout, along with veteran and former Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker.

York has appeared in 23 games during his career and has a 73.3% field goal success rate. He last played in the NFL in 2024 with the Cincinnati Bengals, where he made nine of his 11 (81.8%) field goal attempts and 14-of-15 (93.3%) extra points.

The Saints now have two kickers on their practice squad in York and Charlie Smyth, who was inked to an international contract in 2024.

Chances are York's stay on the practice squad will be temporary and he will be promoted to the active roster in due time.
