TL;DR
- * Saints are 1-7, tied for worst record in the league under Kellen Moore.
- * Rookie Tyler Shough will start at quarterback for the rest of the season.
- * Alvin Kamara will play Week 9 against the Los Angeles Rams despite an ankle injury.
- * New Orleans aims to end a three-game losing streak with Shough's debut.
The New Orleans Saints aren't having an ideal first season under head coach Kellen Moore. Sitting at 1-7, they are tied with the New York Jets for the worst record in the entire league.
New Orleans' offense will be looking a lot different on the offensive side of the ball in Week 9 against the Los Angeles Rams. The team announced that rookie second-round pick Tyler Shough will be leading the offense for the rest of the season.
The start of the first-year quarterback's starting career didn't start very promisingly. Saints running back Alvin Kamara was listed as questionable early in the week as he continues to deal with an ankle injury.
Alvin Kamara will play Week 9 vs. Rams
NFL insider Jay Glazer gave updates to multiple players throughout the league ahead of Sunday's slate, and Saints running back Alvin Kamara will be active for Week 9.
The veteran running back has been dealing with the same ankle injury for a couple of weeks, but it hasn't stopped him from playing in every game this season.
Since joining the league in 2017, 30-year-old Kamara has been the linchpin of the Saints' offense. The 2025 season has not been as fruitful for him compared to previous years. Through eight games played, he has 363 rushing yards, 31 receptions, 147 receiving yards, and one total touchdown.
New Orleans will look to snap its three-game losing streak and give quarterback Tyler Shough a positive start to his NFL career.
