Justin Tucker is aiming to return to the NFL and the New Orleans Saints could be an ideal destination.

The legendary kicker spent 13 seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, resulting in seven Pro-Bowl nods and five First-Team All-Pro selections. However, the former Super Bowl champion ran out of favor this May after a string of poor performances.

In June, the NFL suspended Tucker for 10 games after allegations were made that the kicker engaged in inappropriate behaviour during massage sessions. Now that the suspension is over, he is waiting for his next opportunity, which may arrive sooner rather than later.

According to the latest update from NFL insider Mike Garafolo, Tucker is working out with the Saints.

Tucker is not the only one being auditioned for a new role. Veteran kicker Cade York was also working out with the Saints, suggesting that the franchise is actively looking to replace their current kicker, Blake Grupe.

Why Saints are looking for new kicker?

The Saints' latest workout activity with two well-known kickers comes in the wake of a 24-10 loss against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Blake Grupe could only convert 1-of-3 field goals, while converting one extra point. This played a hand in the loss, which put the Saints back 2-9 on the season. Both of those missed field goals came from 38 and 47 yards only. Grupe acknowledged his shortcomings in the game.

"It’s frustrating. I’m frustrated. I know the fans are," Grupe said. "I know a lot of guys in this locker room are, because I owe it to them, I owe it to literally everybody to be better, so I don’t have a whole lot of answers right now other than I’m just gonna keep trucking, keep working and see what happens.”

Even coach Kellen Moore suggested that the team would evaluate the position after the loss.

"Obviously, it’s an important thing we’ll have to evaluate," Moore said, "really dig into what happened today.”

Grupe's season numbers are not great. His field goal percentage is around 69.2%, ranking him among the worst kickers in the league.
