The New Orleans Saints don't have much left to play for this season.
They chose to make some history on Sunday, anyway.
For the first time, the Saints are wearing all-black uniforms.
This is how ESPN explained the history:
"For the first time in franchise history, the New Orleans Saints are wearing all-black. New Orleans announced an alternate black helmet in 2022, which hadn't been worn since 1969. Since then, the Saints have paired it with all-white or gold jerseys, which debuted in Week 1 this season. The Atlanta Falcons will don all-white against the Saints."
It's a different look, to be sure.
It doesn't have much of the gold that usually makes the Saints' uniforms pop.
Most NFL teams have begun to add new looks, though.
Some of them are initiated by the NFL as part of different series that try to expand the visual and commercial appeal of many jerseys.
Others are just done by teams, who want to embrace new identities or give themselves more options.
For the Saints, they've simply chosen to try out something new on Sunday.
It may or may not be popular, but with nothing else going right for New Orleans, why not try it out? Nothing that bad can come out of it.
