The New Orleans Saints are in the middle of a rough 2025 season, with major question marks all across the roster. But one player who's a certainty is wide receiver Chris Olave.

Despite some trade rumors leading up to the deadline, the Saints and Olave expressed interest in working out a contract extension. While the reporting on his extension died down after the deadline passed, the most recent update is some great news.

During an appearance on the Up &Adams show, Olave revealed that his contract extension with the Saints is "in the works," and that he wants to stay in New Orleans "forever."

"It's in the works," Olave said of his contract extension. "I want to be in New Orleans forever."

This is a great update for the Saints' wide receiver. Not only did the Saints intend to extend Olave, but those talks are progressing according to Olave.

While nothing is final, the Saints' intention to keep him and Olave's wish to remain with the organization "forever" point to a contract getting completed at some point.

So far this season, Olave has hauled in 60 passes for 664 yards and four touchdowns on 95 targets. It's one of his more productive seasons, and he has a chance to add to those totals in the final seven weeks of the year.

Olave is 25 years old and is under contract through the 2026 season. New Orleans most likely doesn't want Olave to head into the 2026 season without a deal, so completing an extension this season or in the offseason is a priority for Olave and the Saints.

A deal isn't done yet, but amid a strong season from Olave, the Saints and the first-round wide receiver are getting closer to an agreed-upon extension.
