New Orleans Saints defensive end Cam Jordan said he is ready and “willing” to return for a 16th season, though the final call rests with his wife, Nikki.

The 36-year-old finished the year with 10.5 sacks, including one in the Saints’ loss to the Atlanta Falcons in the regular-season finale.

Jordan is set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, but said he can’t envision playing anywhere else, adding that he wants to feel “appreciated.” He also pointed to excitement about the Saints’ young core as a reason he’d like to continue in New Orleans.

Addressing his future after the game, Jordan discussed the possibility of retirement while making clear he believes his play still speaks for itself.

“I think I’ve always known I’m willing,” Jordan said of playing next season. “I think my play says I’m elite.

“(But), I defer to Nikki Jordan to see is she is willing to let me do what it takes to be committed to the game, because it takes a lot. Four kids, they’re all in sports. She holds it down. I do what I’m told.”

“I said get me through 15 (seasons) and we’ll see where it takes us. Then it’ll be just if the numbers make sense.”

“I have fun hitting people. It’s the name of the game. If you’re not feeling appreciated then sometimes you have to go where you are appreciated. Physical wise, I feel like I’m primed for a long career.”

A cornerstone of the Saints’ defense, Jordan has posted double-digit sack totals seven times in his career. He has been named an All-Pro three times, selected to eight Pro Bowls and earned a spot on the NFL’s 2010s All-Decade Team.
