The New England Patriots haven't had the services of running back Rhamondre Stevenson for three straight games.
Stevenson sustained a toe injury in the Week 8 win over the Cleveland Browns and it isn't clear exactly when he'll be back.
In Stevenson's absence, rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson has begun to catch fire, which sets up for an interesting decision upon the veteran's return from injury, whenever that might be.
As we turn the page to Week 12, here's what we know about Stevenson's potential return to the field.
Will Rhamondre Stevenson return in Week 12?
This has yet to be decided, although there was a sign last week that Stevenson might have a chance to play in Week 12.
For the first time since his injury, Stevenson practiced last week, logging two limited sessions, which is a clear sign of progress.
However, we also have to note that Stevenson sat out the final session of the week, although it isn't clear if that was just a rest day or if he suffered some sort of a setback.
Another reason for optimism for Stevenson's status is he wasn't placed on injured reserve after coming down with the injury, which means the Patriots don't expect him to miss more than three games.
After sitting out in Week 11, Stevenson has now missed three contests.
Adding to that, the Patriots are on a mini-bye after playing on Thursday night last week, so that gives Stevenson a few extra days to get right.
If Stevenson doesn't go, it'll be another big workload for Henderson, who will likely be spelled by D'Ernest Johnson and/or Terrell Jennings.
If Stevenson does play, it'll be interesting to see how New England divvies up the work, although we would suspect the Pats will go back to what they were doing before Stevenson's injury, when Henderson played second fiddle to the veteran.
