The New England Patriots had quite the injury scare with left tackle Will Campbell in the Week 12 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Campbell suffered a knee injury in the third quarter of the contest and was later ruled out.
The worst was initially feared for the standout rookie after he was carted to the locker room and was visibly upset.
However, there is some good news to share on Campbell in the hours after the win over the Bengals.
Here's the latest injury update on Campbell.
Is Will Campbell out for the season?
No, Campbell is not expected to be out for the rest of the season, although that is based on a report and not from information the team has provided.
According to Patriots analyst Daniel Rotman, the early belief is that Campbell just has a sprain. Rotman adds that more testing will be done on Monday to determine the exact severity, so Campbell isn't out of the woods yet.
"REPORT: Subject to further testing tomorrow, both Will Campbell and Jared Wilson are believed to have sprains," Rotman reported. "Neither injury is considered long-term as of now (per source)."
Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio also reports that Campbell is set to undergo more tests on Monday.
After the game, head coach Mike Vrabel did not provide an update, so the team has not given any further details.
If it's just a sprain, the worst-case scenario is probably an injured reserve stint, which would force Campbell to miss at least four games.
However, it's also possible a minor sprain will lead to a shorter absence than that. It all depends on the severity.
We look forward to getting an exact and confirmed update on Campbell on Monday, but for now it's looking good for the rookie.
