Maya Brady didn't have to wait nearly as long as her uncle Tom to hear her name called on draft day.

Tom Brady, of course, famously didn't get drafted by the New England Patriots until the No. 199 pick, a sixth-rounder, in the 2000 NFL Draft out of Michigan.

Maya? She just went No. 1.

That selection was a part of the Athletes Unlimited Softball League draft. Maya is a star shortstop out of UCLA.

She was chosen by the expansion Oklahoma City Spark, one of six teams in the league, which will begin its 2026 season in June.

Maya was Pac-12 Player of the Year in 2023 and 2024. She's the daughter of Maureen, who is Tom's oldest sister.

Maya actually already played in AUSL in 2025 with the Talons, and in eight games, she hit.500.

Tom has chimed in on Maya before with this social media post:

Tom didn't have to give Maya any advice on a draft day slide, but he still should be able to provide plenty of insight into being a big-time athlete.

Maya's uncle was once a catcher drafted by the Montreal Expos, too, so he knows how things work on the diamond.
