For a few weeks, the New England Patriots' running back situation was easier to figure out.

Rhamondre Stevenson was out injured, and the rookie TreVeyon Henderson took over the majority of the RB depth chart.

That changes now, though.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported this on Saturday night:

"Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a toe injury, is expected to play vs. The Bengals, per source."

For New England, that's good news.

For fantasy managers, not so much.

Early in the year, Stevenson got more carries than Henderson.

But given how Henderson has been playing, he's made the case for at least a 50-50 split. Will New England actually do that, though? Or will the Pats just revert to their early-season plan?

It's hard to know what to expect, and it's very true that even a 50-50 split doesn't do any favors to anyone's chances of having a big game.

The one other key on the flip side for Sunday is to be facing the Bengals is such a good matchup. Cincinnati's defense isn't that good.

There'll be temptation to think both Stevenson and Henderson can have good games in this matchup, and maybe they can.

But the injury return definitely throws a wrench into some of the certainties.
