While it lost by just one score, New England gave the ball away five times, and Pittsburgh took full advantage. The result was a loss that drops the Patriots to 1-2 on the young season.

Here's more on New England's turnover woes and how they got in the way of a potential Week 3 victory.

Patriots fumbles today vs. Steelers

New England's first turnover came less than two minutes into the game, as Rhamondre Stevenson lost the ball on a first-down carry.

Pittsburgh recovered the rolling ball, setting up its first offensive drive from its own 45-yard line.

One of the Patriots' most crucial turnovers came right before halftime, as a Drake Maye pass was batted at the line of scrimmage and intercepted in the end zone, denying a late touchdown.

Pittsburgh continued to deny New England scoring opportunities, as Stevenson fumbled from the 1-yard line.

In all, the Steelers scored 14 points off of Patriots turnovers, with each goal-to-go turnover effectively representing a scoring swing with as many as 14 points denied. The Patriots fumbled twice more in the third quarter, with Stevenson and Antonio Gibson losing the ball once each.
