Patriots' Drake Maye has started NFL season with 5 stats never matched in football history image

Drake Maye and the New England Patriots put on some sharp new uniforms on Thursday night.

They played just as well as they've played in all the other threads this season.

Maye has the Pats up to a 9-2 start, aided on Thursday by another big night from TreVeyon Henderson.

But really, Maye has been the revelation. He showed flashes of his potential as a rookie. In year two, he's quickly blossomed into a star and even an MVP contender.

One fact shows this as much as anything. OptaStats shared that only one QB in NFL history has put together an 11-game span that includes these marks:

  • 2,500 passing yards
  • 250 rushing yards
  • 20 TD passes
  • 70% completion
  • 80% winning

That's the run Maye is on. It's never been done before, and not just to start a season, but at any point in a season.

It's an amazing stretch for Maye to put together. It's earned him MVP consideration and put the Patriots atop the AFC East.

For a QB just in his second season, it's also been an impressive leap. Sometimes, quarterbacks take the league by storm as a rookie and hit a sophomore slump in year two.

Not Maye. He's been better than ever with each passing week, and the Patriots are already reaping the rewards of his draft selection.
