The No. 1 priority for the New England Patriots this season is doing everything they can to help quarterback Drake Maye.
Maye, who was taken with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, had a solid rookie campaign and is now looking to build on that in Year 2. So far, he looks to be doing just that, but he could use more help.
The Patriots' wide receiver situation isn't great, with the team relying on soon-to-be 32-year-old Stefon Diggs as their No. 1 and the unproven Kayshon Boutte as their No. 2.
With how important Maye is to the future of the franchise, the team should be looking to add to the position, and they should be aiming as high as possible.
Bleacher Report's Alex Kay has an idea that would check the box the Pats need. He proposes a trade between New England and the Philadelphia Eagles that sends A.J. Brown to the Pats for a 2026 second-round pick and a 2027 second-round pick.
With the Eagles still managing to get off to a 4-0 start despite Brown's shortcomings, they may be amenable to dealing him to New England. His services won't come cheap, but the Pats shouldn't hesitate to create a standout, veteran-laden receiving corps led by Diggs and Brown.
Doing so will help Maye reach his ceiling and allow him to lead this organization back to the playoffs.
Brown is off to a puzzling start to the season.
Outside of a big Week 3, Brown has not been involved anywhere near as much as he should be. In the other three games he has played, Brown has just eight catches for 42 yards on 18 targets.
While it's doubtful the Eagles will trade Brown, we thought the same thing about him when he was with the Tennessee Titans, so never say never.
It is worth noting that the superstar wideout is not happy with the situation, as evidenced by his recent social media post.
That at least cracks the door slightly ajar for a Browns-Eagles divorce.
While Kay's suggested price is quite high, that's probably what it would take for the Eagles to even consider parting ways. It would be a worthy price to pay for the Pats, who desperately need to give their young quarterback an elite weapon.
Brown probably wouldn't mind the change of scenery, either, and especially with his former Titans head coach, Mike Vrabel, now the lead man in New England.
If the opportunity presents itself, the Patriots should absolutely make a move for Brown.
