Dallas Turner’s offseason took a surprising turn this week, but not everyone is buying the story — including one of his own teammates.
After a Star Tribune report claimed the second-year Minnesota Vikings EDGE had fallen victim to a banking scam that drained $240,000 from his accounts — citing a police report — veteran teammate Jonathan Greenard chimed in on social media with a candid response:
“😂😂😂😂😂 this is not how it went down but who told u this 🤔🤔,” Greenard tweeted, throwing some obvious shade at the details in the report.
The Vikings, nor Turner’s financial advising team, have commented on the report.
According to the Tribune, Turner was contacted by a person impersonating a JP Morgan Chase banker on Feb. 19. Later that day, he reportedly visited two separate Chase Bank branches in the Twin Cities area — one in Eagan, the other in West St. Paul — and transferred a total of $240,000 to two companies: “Island Food Truck LLC” and “CNL FL LLC.”
Only $2,500 of that money has been recovered so far, per Eagan Police Sgt. Rich Evans, though multiple suspects have reportedly been identified.
Greenard’s reaction adds a new layer to the situation — one that hints at some internal skepticism over how things are being portrayed in the media. It's worth noting, however, that Greenard didn't deny that his 22-year-old teammate was scammed out of money in some fashion.
Turner was the No. 17 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and is entering the second season of a fully guaranteed four-year, $15.7 million rookie deal. As a rookie, he was buried on the depth chart behind Greenard and fellow pass rusher Andrew Van Ginkel, logging just 310 defensive snaps. But expectations are higher for 2025, with Turner projected to take on a bigger role in Brian Flores’ defense.
Whether this banking blunder affects Turner’s on-field trajectory remains to be seen, but it’s already become a talking point in the locker room — and online.
