Cam Akers was a high school legend in Mississippi.
But back then, the current NFL running back was a quarterback.
That came in handy in Week 5 of the 2025 NFL season, when Akers lined up in what looked like the Wildcat formation for the Minnesota Vikings. But when he ran right, he was looking to pass all the way, and he tossed to a wide open Josh Oliver down field for a touchdown.

Cam Akers high school stats
Cam Akers played for Clinton High School in Clinton, Mississippi.
He was a superstar quarterback.
As a senior, Akers threw for 3,128 yards and 31 touchdowns. As you'd expect, he was a dual threat, with an additional 2,105 rushing yards and 34 more TDs as a senior.
Akers was named the Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year after that season.

He was also selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and won the U.S. Army Player of the Year Award.
Akers parlayed that career into a spot as a Florida State running back (where he did complete five passes), but apparently he never fully lost those QB roots.
