The Minnesota Vikings have wrapped up their preseason, meaning the next time they take the field will be when they take on the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football  to begin their 2025 season.

Ahead of their Week 1 game, though, the Vikings have been wheeling and dealing on the trade market. They traded Harrison Phillips to the New York Jets, and have now exported another veteran.

The Vikings are trading quarterback Sam Howell to the Philadelphia Eagles, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

"Trade terms: Minnesota receives 5th in 2026 and a 7th in 2027 Philly gets QB Sam Howell and a 6th in 2026," Schefter reports.

In a corresponding move, the Vikings have signed former Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz to serve as the backup to young J.J. McCarthy.
