The Tyreek Hill trade rumors are circulating again, as the Miami Dolphins consider the future for a 31-year-old speedster whose production dropped off last season.
ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler reported that Hill, who is currently sidelined with an oblique injury, could be on the trade block before the start of the regular season.
"Right now, I have talked to a few teams that are at least monitoring his future a little bit. Could he be a potential trade target?" Fowler said.
"I know the Dolphins earlier this summer were telling teams, no, we're not trading Tyreek Hill. But they just wonder, is he going to be available? It could be wishful thinking. Maybe they want him to be available, but he's a player that when I bring up the teams and say, 'Who's sort of a trade target you're watching?' They bring up Tyreek Hill, so we'll see. He's a big option for Tua [Tagovailoa] and that'd be a major move if they did move away from him."
Hill’s future with the Dolphins appeared to be in jeopardy last season after their season-ending loss to the Jets in Week 17. The speedy wideout publicly stated that he no longer wanted to be with the Dolphins.
“I’m out, bro,” Hill said. “It was great playing here, but at the end of the day, I gotta do what’s best for my career because I’m too much of a competitor to be just out there.”
Later, he posted what appeared to be a goodbye message on X.
“Love fin nation blessing yall opened doors for the Hill family forever nothing, but respect and love,” Hill wrote.
But Hill has since apologized to Tagovailoa and the team.
He is entering his fourth season with the Dolphins after spending the first six seasons of his career with the Chiefs.
He struggled through a down year last season, recording 81 receptions for 959 yards and six touchdowns.
He counts $27.7 million against the salary cap in 2025, a fair number if he can reach his production of the 2022 and 2023 seasons, when he was named team MVP and reached 1,700 receiving yards each time.
However, Hill's cap number jumps to $51.9 million in 2026, and it is unlikely the Dolphins retain him at that number.
