The Miami Dolphins' benching of Tua Tagovailoa likely marks the end of an era in Miami.

After a six-year stint as the Dolphins quarterback, the front office will be looking for a way to cut ties with Tagovailoa this offseason despite his bloated contract.

The Ringer's Sheil Kapadia had an idea for Miami to ship their former Alabama quarterback out this offseason, and it involves bringing back another former first-round pick who has struggled in his young career.

Sheil Kapadia pitches Tua Tagovailoa-Anthony Richardson swap

On The Ringer's NFL Show, Kapadia proposed the idea that the Dolphins could attach a second-round pick to Tagovailoa, sending him to the Indianapolis Colts for Anthony Richardson.

"What if the Miami Dolphins traded Tua Tagovailoa and a second-round pick to the Indianapolis Colts for Anthony Richardson. So the Colts... Richardson didn't work out. We don't want him. We're getting rid of him... Do we know Daniel Jones is going to be ready to start next season? I mean, look at what Shane Steichen did with Daniel Jones. No one thought Daniel Jones was good," Kapadia said.

"And the Dolphins say, 'We're getting off the Tua contract. We're not saying Anthony Richardson's going to be Cam Newton or anything, but you know what? We can try him out for a year. We can still draft a quarterback.'"

In a deal that would benefit both quarterbacks, Tagovailoa would get a chance to resurrect his career, similar to Daniel Jones' resurgence in 2025.

Meanwhile, Richardson pairs up with one of the brightest offensive minds in football, with Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel.
