Rob Gronkowski blasts Miami Dolphins after ugly opener: “They’re terrible” image

It was a nightmare start for the Miami Dolphins.

The Dolphins couldn’t have drawn up a worse way to kick off the 2025 season. Playing in Indianapolis, Mike McDaniel’s squad was outclassed in every phase of the game during a 33-8 loss to the Colts. It was the type of performance that immediately sparked questions about the direction of the franchise.

For a team that missed the playoffs last season, opening with a flat, turnover-filled effort only poured fuel on the fire.

Gronk doesn’t hold back

On Wednesday, Rob Gronkowski made it clear he’s already lost faith in Miami. Speaking on “The Up & Adams Show,” the four-time Super Bowl champ delivered one of the harshest critiques the Dolphins have heard in years.

“The Miami Dolphins, they’re terrible,” Gronkowski said. “It’s been coming out of that camp for a long time, about a year in the making. I have not heard a good thing out of Miami in over a year. The turmoil has just been real, and it showed big time in Week 1.”

Coming from someone who knows championship football, the criticism carries extra weight.

Tua struggles add to concerns

While Miami’s defense surrendered 33 points, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s numbers stood out for all the wrong reasons. He completed just 14-of-23 passes for 114 yards, with one touchdown, two interceptions, and a fumble. Three turnovers later, fans were openly questioning whether he’s still the right leader under center.

McDaniel tried to spin things in a positive direction, telling reporters after the game, “I don’t see how it could be worse.”

What’s next?

The Dolphins will get a chance to respond quickly, hosting the New England Patriots in Week 2. It’s a pivotal matchup, not only to silence critics like Gronk but also to prove this team isn’t unraveling before September is even over. Kickoff is set for noon at Hard Rock Stadium.
