Rams trade pitch sparks reunion with $72.3 million Dolphins superstar, Super Bowl Champion image

The Los Angeles Rams are coming off a season in which they made the playoffs but fell to the Philadelphia Eagles, who went on to become Super Bowl champions. The Rams have a seasoned veteran in Matthew Stafford at quarterback, but their defense is missing the veteran leadership it desperately needs.

Just a few years removed from winning the Super Bowl, Los Angeles is eager to return to the mountaintop before its window of opportunity closes. To do that, it appears the team needs to add a veteran presence to its defensive unit.

"The Rams lack both consistency and top-level play in their cornerback ranks — the biggest deficiency in this young, acclaimed defense. The front office did almost nothing to invest in the unit this offseason, but the opportunity to make a splash is still alive should the Rams make a play to bring Jalen Ramsey back to Los Angeles,” Mason Cameron wrote.

For now, the Dolphins are unwilling to entertain offers for Ramsey, but that could change at any moment. Rams head coach Sean McVay would welcome a reunion.

“He is a total stud, and you look at, obviously he has continued to play at a really high level. He and I have kept in great touch even since we ended up trading him to Miami. Special competitor, great person, great father,” McVay said.

Bringing Ramsey back would make a lot of sense for the Rams. He wants to join a team positioned to make a playoff run and compete for a Super Bowl. While the Rams originally traded him to clear cap space, their relationship remained strong.

Ramsey still holds a great deal of affection for both the city of Los Angeles and the Rams organization. Not only would persuading the Dolphins to part with Ramsey improve the defense, but it would also create a long-awaited reunion.
