Miami Dolphins’ future with Quinn Ewers: How he can secure the QB1 job in 2026 image

After the Miami Dolphins have chosen to fire their former General Manager Chris Grier, the outlook for this team’s future has drastically changed.

On Dec. 17, former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa appeared on the official depth chart as the Dolphin’s third-string quarterback.

The new quarterback in town for Miami was now Quinn Ewers, the rookie from the University of Texas was given the nod over Zach Wilson, another back up quarterback on the Miami Dolphins roster.

Even though the front office is going through a shake up, there have been reports that point to the continuation of employment for head coach Mike McDaniels.

Being reported by Ian Rapoport, Mike McDaniels was quoted saying that “He believes Quinn Ewers is what this offense needs to run properly."

Quinn Ewers so far in his two starts has a record of 1-1, with his first career win coming against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week 17 of the NFL season, in this game he threw for 172 yards on 14/22 and with two passing touchdowns to top it off.

Miami with their current record of 7-9 which could either go to 8-9 or 7-10 depending on how Sunday's game with the New England Patriots game goes is a very telling game for their future and off-season.

Quinn Ewers has a chance to prove himself against one of the best teams in not only in the AFC but in his own division of the AFC East.

With a victory or good performance in that game it would prove to the front office of Miami that they should attack other issues on the team in the offseason, with a lose or bad performance it gives the front office the leverage to either try and draft a new quarterback or try to sign in another during free agency.

Quinn Ewers has a unique chance to control over his own destiny making the game on Sunday in Foxborough a big one for the young quarterback.
