Jaylen Waddle injury update: Latest news on Dolphins WR's status for Week 3 image

The status of Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle remains up in the air ahead of kickoff of the Week 3 game versus the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night.

Waddle was not initially on the injury report to start the week but was added on Tuesday with a shoulder issue that has plagued him since Week 1.

Waddle was listed on last week's injury report but turned in two limited practices and then a full session on Friday before he was removed.

The former first-round pick did not turn in a full practice over the final two days of the week, but he did manage to log a pair of limited sessions before drawing a questionable tag.

Here's the latest update on Waddle's chances of playing in Week 3.

UPDATE: According to NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe, Waddle is expected to suit up on Thursday night and will "be a big factor in Miami's offense" against Buffalo.

END OF UPDATE

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, it appears Waddle is a true game-time decision, as the wide receiver will test his shoulder out pregame before the team decides what he's going to do.

Rapoport does add, however, that there is optimism Waddle suits up.

"Jaylen Waddle, who is questionable to play, will test his injured shoulder ahead of Thursday night's game, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Good Morning Football," NFL.com writes. "There is optimism that Waddle will play against Buffalo."

The obvious concern for Waddle here is the risk of aggravating his injury and having a quick night. We've seen it before with the Dolphins playmaker, so start him at your own risk in fantasy football if he's active.

If Waddle doesn't play, Tyreek Hill should get peppered with targets. The eight-time Pro Bowler has seen 13 over two games and has turned them into 10 catches for 149 scoreless yards.

As far as who replaces Waddle is concerned, it would likely be Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, who is listed as Waddle's backup. He is not a suggested fantasy option, though.
