Ollie Gordon is generating the kind of late-summer hype that has fantasy football players excited and Miami Dolphins fans intrigued about their rookie running back from Oklahoma State.
And now it's Week 1, so Gordon's regular season debut is just about here.
The Dolphins will take on the Colts on Sunday. Miami RB1 De'Von Achane is healthy and cleared to go, so Gordon won't have a huge workload, but it's uncertain just how much time he'll see.

Naturally, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel was asked about Gordon's likely playtime on Wednesday, and he gave a very McDaniel-esque answer.
“He’ll have zero plays or all the plays, zero yards or all the yards — or somewhere in between," McDaniel told reporters, via ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques.
That really narrows it down.
Gordon was once thought of as one of the top running backs in his class. But then his final year at Oklahoma State was so brutal that he fell to the sixth round in April, with the Dolphins taking a chance on his pedigree and past production.
He already got one break this summer, when another young backup, Jaylen Wright, was injured. It sets Gordon up as the unquestioned top backup to Achane.
Gordon is also a different kind of back than Achane. The incumbent is a speedster who is dangerous as a receiver and in open space. Gordon has the potential to be more of a power back.

If Gordon is his old self again, he can actually provide a great complement to Achane in the Miami backfield.
The Dolphins are trying to bounce back this season, hoping Tua Tagovailoa can stay healthy along with his talented receivers.
Gordon in the backfield is the type of bonus piece that can push things over the top in Miami. At least once McDaniel figures out how much he's going to give Gordon the ball.
