Dolphins linked to move to fix secondary, not quarterback situation in upcoming months image

The Miami Dolphins are expected to make changes in the secondary during the offseason, and cornerback is one of the easiest spots to point to when looking at the roster.

Honestly, while the Dolphins’ defense struggled early, the secondary was a bit better than most expected.

Still, if the Dolphins want to be more consistent on defense, they’re going to need upgrades in the secondary.

That’s why Matt Johnson of Sportsnaut linked Mansoor Delane to Miami in his latest NFL Draft.

The LSU cornerback is coming off a strong season and has played against high-level competition in the SEC, which matters for a team that doesn’t have time to wait on development.

The Dolphins aren’t in a position where they can afford to draft projects in the secondary. We’ve seen them do that in the past, and it hasn’t worked out.

Matt Johnson of Sportsnaut predicted Delane will land with the Dolphins.

“Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver Jr. Did the best he could with what he had to work with, but this was always one of the worst cornerback rooms in the NFL. Mansoor Delane, at 6-foot, is coming off an All-American caliber season at LSU. He is extremely skilled in coverage with great ball skills (8 career interceptions) to go with it,” he wrote.

There might be better options at pick No. 10, depending on what the Dolphins want to do with the QB situation, but Delane is very good.

If the Dolphins go this route, it would be a decision based on need. Right now, the secondary, among others, is clearly one of them.
