The Miami Dolphins were walloped by the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 16, losing 45-21 in a brutal loss in the first week after benching Tua Tagovailoa.
But, despite the loss, running back De'Von Achane had an incredible day, and specifically, with one explosive touchdown runfrom 48 yards out to tie the game in the first quarter.
That touchdown run, according to NFL Senior Researcher Dante Koplowitz-Fleming, has Achane joining exclusive NFL history alongside NFL legends like Jim Brown, Adrian Peterson, Maurice Jones-Drew, and Chris Johnson.
Dolphins' De'Von Achane joins exclusive NFL history
"De'Von Achane has 6 career rush touchdowns of 45+ yards," Koplowitz-Fleming notes. "The only players in NFL history with more before their 25th birthday: Jim Brown (8), Chris Johnson (8), Maurice Jones-Drew (8), Adrian Peterson (7)."
While Achane isn't tied with any of those players just yet, he's closing in on reaching the same heights that those running backs did in their early NFL careers.
Achane is 24 years old, and with an October 13th birthday, he'll have the first few weeks of the 2026 NFL season to also attempt to break this rushing touchdown record.
He'll have two more games to close out the 2025 regular season as well, and if he can just get two more such touchdowns, which is very possible considering his explosive play-making ability, Achane could set some incredible NFL history.

This is his third season in the NFL, and it's been his best by far. Through 16 weeks, he has 1,267 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, and he's averaging an NFL-best 5.8 yards per attempt.
As a receiver, he's also added 64 receptions for 459 yards and four touchdowns, making him one of the best dual-threat running backs in the NFL this season.
Since his NFL debut in 2023, Achane has been one of the most explosive players in the league. With one more 45+ yard rushing touchdown, he'd tie Peterson for the second most for a player under 25 years old.
While he's yet to set the NFL record, with how explosive he is, he's more than capable of breaking this NFL record with a few more weeks to go.
