Following the Miami Dolphins' loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, losing on a last-second, game-winning field goal, there were plenty of questions and frustrations expressed by Dolphins leaders postgame.
Tua Tagovailoa called out players for missing or showing up late to meetings, and Mike McDaniel deflected comments about whether the team was sticking together. But another Dolphins leader called for accountability from the entire team.
Dolphins running back De'Von Achane, in just his third year, called for accountability from Dolphins leadership following the heartbreaking Week 6 loss to the Chargers in his postgame press conference shared by FinsXtra on Twitter/X.
Dolphins' Devon Achane calls for accountability following heartbreaking Chargers loss
"As a team," Achane said, "I feel like as leaders, as captains on this team, we got to make sure that we hold everybody accountable... as men, we signed that contract to be on this team. It don't matter - practice, games - we still got to show up and make sure that we're out there giving 100-110 percent and not just lolly-gagging."

The Dolphins are 1-5 and coming off back-to-back tough losses. The Chargers beat the Dolphins 29-27, and the Carolina Panthers beat Miami 27-24 in Week 5.
Both losses were tough ones for Miami, and in the wake of the most recent loss, Achane called on Dolphins leaders for accountability.
His comments, specifically his mention of "as men, we signed that contract to be on this team," seemingly point to Tagovailoa's comments on players skipping or being late for team meetings being true.
While Achane isn't coming out and saying that's happening, it's hard to ignore the similarities in messaging between Tagovailoa and Achane. One is directly calling out the issues on the team, while the other is hinting at more accountability from the players who signed their contracts.

If players are missing or showing up late to meetings, there are a lot of issues that the Dolphins need to address. With the season slowly unraveling, Miami is running out of time to address these issues before another lost season.
Achane, an electric running back in his third year in Miami, is not just calling for accountability from the team's leaders, but also for the rest of the team to constantly show up.
Feeling the need to make this statement is not a good sign, as it alludes to the Dolphins players not putting their best foot forward in practice and in games.
The 2025 season is at risk of ending in disaster, and through six weeks, things are already in a dangerous place. McDaniel is on the hot seat, Tagovailoa is publicly calling out his teammates, and now Achane is calling for accountability from everyone in the organization.
It's a turbulent time in Miami, and with a Week 7 matchup against the Cleveland Browns on tap, they need to get things right before their season takes even more of a nosedive.
