The Miami Dolphins lost to the Carolina Panthers in Week 5, and then in Week 6, lost to the Los Angeles Chargers. Both were winnable games, but the Dolphins couldn't come through at the end of either game.

In the wake of their fifth loss of the year, the Dolphins could look to the trade deadline as sellers. There will be plenty of inquiries made about their defensive players, especially Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb, but the Dolphins could move an offensive player, too.

According to Dan Graziano of ESPN, the Dolphins, if they decide to move players at the deadline, could end up trading away a 2024 running back draft pick after just one year with the team, with De'Von Achane and Ollie Gordon II taking over the room.

Dolphins could trade 2024 fourth-round draft pick after only 71 touches

"If Miami decides to trade players before the deadline, it could move on from Jaylen Wright." Graziano writes, "he was a healthy scratch Sunday against the Chargers and seems to have been supplanted by rookie Ollie Gordon II on the depth chart behind starter De'Von Achane."

Jaylen Wright was a draft pick made by the Dolphins in 2024, and after just one year, he could see his role on the team disappear in favor of Gordon as the running back spelling Achane.

Drafted in the fourth round of the 2024 draft, Wright hasn't played much for the Dolphins over the last year and a half. Selected 120th overall, Wright has had just 71 touches in his NFL career with the Dolphins.

In the 15 games he played in 2024, Wright had 68 rushing attempts for 249 rushing yards, averaging 3.7 yards per carry. In the receiving game, Wright was targeted six times, making three catches for just eight yards.

On his 71 touches from scrimmage, he had 257 yards total in his rookie season. After seeing his role taken over by Gordon in the preseason, Wright became an outlier on the depth chart, and so far this season, even when healthy, he has yet to play for the Dolphins.

At just 22 years old, and after a productive few seasons at Tennessee, a team could look at Wright as a reclamation project at this year's deadline.

Part of why a team might be interested in Wright after his lack of NFL production in year one is the fact that he's under team control through the 2027 season. Getting two and a half more years of Wright is worth a late-round pick.

Miami won't be able to land a fourth-rounder for Wright most likely, but they could get something in return for him instead of letting him sit on the bench for the majority of the year.

While not the most obvious trade chip in Miami, Wright is a name to watch as the deadline approaches. With less than a month until the deadline passes, Wright could be in the final weeks of his Dolphins career.
