Jesse Davis was one of the more unlikely NFL success stories in recent Miami Dolphins history.
The 6-foot-6 offensive lineman went undrafted out of Idaho.
But then in five seasons with the Dolphins, Davis started 72 of the 80 games he played in.
An NFL career that continued to brief stints with the Steelers, 49ers, Vikings and Saints is now over, as Davis officially announced his retirement on Monday.
“After 10 years, I’m officially retiring from the NFL,” Davis wrote in an Instagram post. “Thank you to all my coaches, teammates, fans, and most importantly, my family. Without you guys, I wouldn’t have made it this far. Thank you to all the organizations that gave me the opportunity to play the game I love. I’ve had an incredible ride that I’ll never forget. Now it’s time to be a full-time dad and figure out my next chapter.”

Davis, 33, actually enrolled at Idaho as a defensive lineman. He played on the D-line in his first two seasons there, compiling 22 tackles.
After a redshirt season, he played just one offensive line campaign in 2014, appearing in 10 games.
At 6-6 and about 300 pounds, he did enough to earn an NFL look, and Davis ran with it.
The Dolphins could play Davis all over the offensive line and he could be steady at any of those spots.
He hasn't played in a regular season game since 2023, although he tried to keep playing in 2024 to no avail.
Now, Davis moves on to the next chapter of his life after quite the cool NFL career.
