The Miami Dolphins enter Week 18 in what could be the final week of Tua Tagovailoa's time in Miami and Mike McDaniel's time as the head coach.

At 7-9, their playoff hopes are over, but they could still win over the New England Patriots and enter the offseason on a high note.

But, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, it's going to be a bit harder than normal. Dolphins star running back De'Von Achane got an injury update, which likely ends his 2025 season.

Dolphins get bad news on De'Von Achane for Week 18

"Dolphins running back De'Von Achane and wide receiver Jaylen Waddle are not expected to play today's regular-season finale at New England, per sources," Schefter reports.

Achane is not expected to play in Week 18 against the Patriots, which would mean his 2025 season has come to a close.

The 24-year-old star running back made his first Pro Bowl and was one of the lone bright spots for Miami amid a tough 2025 season.

He ran for 1,350 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground on 238 attempts this season. As a receiver, he caught 67 of 85 passes for 488 yards and four touchdowns.

Achane was the best payer for the Dolphins this season on offense, and arguably, the entire team. His breakout campaign leaves plenty of hope for the future, as the offense will have a dynamic, dual-threat running back leading the way.

But, for the season finale of the 2025 NFL season for the Dolphins, Achane is expected to miss time, giving way for a few other backs to get their chances in Week 18.

Jaylen Wright, Ollie Gordon II, Donovan Edwards, and Jeff Wilson will get the backfield touches this week.

The Dolphins' season in 2025 didn't go to plan, but if there was one main positive to walk away from this season with, it would be the breakout of Achane into being a superstar running back in the NFL.
