The Los Angeles Rams have an injury concern with wide receiver Davante Adams ahead of their Week 11 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
Adams came down with what was initially called a back issue in the Week 10 win over the San Francisco 49ers and exited the contest early.
It was later revealed that Adams had sustained an oblique injury. The veteran wide receiver was put on the injury report this week and his week is off to a bad start after he was a non-participant in practice on Wednesday.
However, there are reasons for optimism for Adams, who has received two positive injury updates, one from head coach Sean McVay on Wednesday, and another from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport on Thursday.
Will Davante Adams play in Week 11?
McVay told reporters on Wednesday that he expects Adams to play despite his lack of participation in practice to start the week.
"Davante Adams (oblique) will not practice Wednesday but McVay expects Adams will be ready to play on Sunday vs. Seahawks," the Los Angeles Times' Gary Klein wrote.
Adding to that, Rapoport reported that he expects Adams to suit up on Sunday.
"It's an oblique/side/back issue," Rapoport said. "Does not seem to be a significant one, so I would expect him to be out on the field."
We'll obviously be keeping an eye on the next two injury reports on Thursday and Friday just to make sure, but for now it appears Adams is going to play.
Adams is having a good season for the Rams, with the veteran receiver posting 568 yards and a whopping nine touchdowns in nine games, ranking second and first on the team, respectively, in those categories.
Having Adams is particularly important this week, as the Rams draw a matchup against the Seahawks and their elite defense that could key in on Puka Nacua.
If Adams doesn't play, the Rams will need even more than usual from Nacua, and guys like Tyler Higbee, Jordan Whittington and Colby Parkinson will also be tasked with helping to fill the void.
