Saints name Tyler Shough their starter – what that means for the Rams’ gameplan for Sunday image

The Saints have made a change at quarterback, per Adam Shefter on his X account, and his name is Tyler Shough.

This is great news for the Rams because Tyler didn’t look so hot when he played Tampa last week, ending the game with a lower QBR rating than the original starter, Spencer Rattler.

How does this move impact the Rams' game plan this Sunday?

Well, it just means that Los Angeles’s front seven, anchored by Byron Young and Jared Verse, will have a field day sacking Shough because that Saints offensive line was still horrible.

In the first series Tyler played in versus Tampa, he threw an interception to Antoine Winfield Jr. The Rams just got Roger McCreery from the Tennessee Titans, and they need a punching bag to test their new guy on. The Saints' offense looks like the perfect matchup.

This isn’t to say that McCreary is going to be the focal point of defense, but don’t be shocked if he’s used a lot more in his first week as a Ram than expected.

Los Angeles will most likely unleash their ground attack, attempting to use that to help open up the play action.

Allowing their entourage of excellent pass catchers to wreak havoc on the Saints' secondary, which has been one of the worst this year.
