Everybody knew the Los Angeles Rams had one glaring weakness, and it was at cornerback.
Earlier, I had theorized that the Rams would trade for either Trevon Diggs, Tariq Woolen, or Alontae Taylor. All three of which I was wrong about, but the great thing about this trade is that it allows the Rams to make a bigger trade play than originally thought.
Looking at the deal, Jim Wyatt revealed on his X account that the Rams traded a conditional fifth-round pick in 2026 for Roger McCreary and a sixth-round pick in 2026. That gives the Rams three sixth-round picks in this year's draft, a round where the Rams have picked notably well over the past few years.
Then Jake Ellenbogen had glowing things to say about the trade on his YouTube channel.
“They like what they have, they do, why not add on to it, and McCreary is likely to be taking the place of Tre Brown,” Ellenbogen wrote.
“Nothing against Tre Brown, but like he wasn’t a part of this roster until Ahkello got hurt, like he was just added on. He was a free agent.
“They’re replacing a guy who didn’t make the initial 53 with somebody who is a borderline starter.”
Hopefully, due to how cheap this deal was for the Rams, they can make this a year where they add key pieces without adding superstars, along the lines of 2018, when they traded for Dante Fowler Jr.
The Rams could make another move because they just put Tutu Atwell on Injured Reserve. But they would be happy with running players they have too.
