Rams' Matthew Stafford named All-Pro over Drake Maye in good omen for MVP Award image

The MVP race in the NFL between Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford and New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is a close one.

With cases to be made for both, the winner of the end-of-year award, whoever it ends up being, will be deserving of the award. But there's an early indication of who could win the MVP this season.

As the Associated Press revealed, the First Team All-Pro and Second Team All-Pro lists were announced, and Stafford and Maye's placement bodes well for the Rams quarterback winning the MVP award this season.

Rams' Matthew Stafford gets good MVP news amid All-Pro list

Stafford was the First Team All-Pro quarterback, while Maye was the Second Team All-Pro in the NFL this season.

Rob Maaddi of the Associated Press revealed the voting results. Stafford had 31 first-place votes, with an overall point-total of 111, while Maye had 18 first-place votes and an overall score of 83.

That's a sizable gap between Stafford and Maye, and should bode well for the Rams quarterback to win the NFL MVP this season.

This is a good sign for the Rams quarterback, as the voting base for the All-Pro teams is the same group that will vote for the MVP award this season.

It's not a guarantee, as seen last season when Lamar Jackson won the First Team All-Pro nod over Josh Allen, but lost the MVP award to Allen.

But, more often than not, the First Team All-Pro quarterback will beat out the other quarterbacks for the MVP award.

It makes sense, as the best quarterback in the NFL typically gets the MVP award, and if the same voters choose one quarterback as being the best this season, they typically have the inside track to the MVP award.

Part of why Allen won it over Jackson might have been due to voter fatigue, as Jackson had won the award a few times before, while Allen never won an MVP in his career.

Stafford has not won an MVP award before, and he looks poised to earn the honor based on the All-Pro voting, which gave him the NFL's top quarterback spot.
