The Los Angeles Rams' Week 16 loss to the Seattle Seahawks was historic.
The Rams had everything going for them in the fourth quarter. They had a two-score lead and were dominating on both sides of the ball all night long.
But the Seahawks didn't quit and managed to rally over the final nine minutes to force the game into overtime, where Seattle again fell behind after a Rams touchdown on the opening possession of the extra frame.
Seattle came storming back, though, and scored its own touchdown before securing the victory with a two-point conversion.
With the loss, the Rams became the first team since at least 1975 to gain 400 yards or more, have zero giveaways, zero sacks taken and record three or more takeaways and still lose, according to NFL stats guru Dante Koplowitz-Fleming.
Previously, teams were 79-0 when hitting those marks.
The loss was enormous for the Rams, who now fall to second place in the NFC West and into the No. 5 seed in the conference.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks move into first place in the division and the No. 1 seed in the conference with two games left to play while also clinching a playoff berth.
But things are far from settled, as the Rams can still catch the Seahawks, and the same goes for the San Francisco 49ers.
The Niners will take the field on Monday night against the Indianapolis Colts.
Next week, the the Niners draw the Chicago Bears, while the Seahawks get the Carolina Panthers and the Rams face the Atlanta Falcons.
