Rams linked to reunion with veteran wide receiver amid ridiculous stretch image

TL;DR

  • The Los Angeles Rams are considered potentially the best NFL team after a dominant win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
  • Speculation suggests wide receiver Brandin Cooks might rejoin the Rams, having played for them in 2018 and 2019.
  • Cooks could provide depth and reliability behind Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, addressing underwhelming performances from other receivers.
  • His familiarity with coach Sean McVay makes a potential reunion a valuable asset for the Rams' championship aspirations.

It's been some year for the Los Angeles Rams and Matthew Stafford, showing that they might be the best team in the NFL.

Following an astonishing 34-7 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a contest where Stafford's performance was utterly commanding from beginning to end, with 273 passing yards and three touchdowns, it's unsettling to consider the Rams acquiring more talent as the season progresses.

Following the New Orleans Saints's decision to let go of wide receiver Brandin Cooks, speculation suggests he might end up back with The Rams, a team he was part of during the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

Zachary Pereles from CBS Sports recently joined those suggesting this possibility, listing them among five potential destinations for the experienced wide receiver.

It's reunion time! Cooks was a player for Sean McVay's Rams during the 2018 and 2019 seasons, and over five years later, he might be a valuable asset for Another McVay team aiming for a championship. While Los Angeles boasts two outstanding receivers in Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, the performance from players deeper on the depth chart has been underwhelming.

Tutu Atwell is on injured reserve, and Jordan Whittington has secured 13 receptions across 10 contests. While the Rams frequently utilize three-tight-end sets, McVay might desire greater adaptability in formations and improved dependability from his backup wideouts. Cooks could fulfill those needs, he wrote.

While the Rams boast a solid wide receiver corps, featuring stars like Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, bringing in a player such as Cooks wouldn't be a detrimental move.

Despite not seeing extensive playing time, he's a valuable player to retain on the roster, especially as a contingency for injuries late in the season.

Given his familiarity with Sean McVay, too, it could be something that works out in the long run.
